Cooking Tip Of The Month

FRUIT & VEGGIE SPRAY

If you can't buy organic produce, you need to make sure you wash it thoroughly. From pesticides to wax to dirt and mold from being transfered to the grocery store, washing you fruit and veggies is really important. It makes your food healthier and tastier, try it on grapes, see if you can taste a difference! Use this spray to make sure your fruit and vegetables are squeaky clean.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup water
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 Tbsp. baking soda
20 drops of grapefruit seed extract*

Combine all ingredients in a large container. Then, transfer to a spray bottle with a pump. Spray mixture on produce, and rinse thoroughly after 5 to 10 minutes.

If you don't want to take the time to make your own spray, there are several kinds that you can buy in the stores but are usually quite expensive. Also several of these washes claim that they don't use chemicals and still claim they are organic. I think the best way would be to make it yourself so you know exactly what is in it.
